Languages
The P&C coordinates the Out of School Language Program at Clovelly Public School.
There are five languages currently on offer, however running of the classes is always dependent on student numbers and availability of a teacher.
- French
- Hebrew
General information
There is a languages information evening held in the first couple of weeks of each new school year, where you can meet the language teachers, and find out more information about the language classes.
During term 4 there is a short concert where all the children who are in the language classes are involved in a short performance.
French
Coco is the French teacher and has been teaching French at Clovelly for 14 years and the Alliance Francaise for 18
years. Each Term is 8 weeks and cost per child is $152 ($19/pw).
French classes are currently held 2 mornings (Tuesday/Wednesday) before school with children grouped according to experience with the language. Children attend French once per week. Tuesday morning, it will be for Year 3-5-6 students, and Wednesday morning is for Year K-1-2 students.

Hebrew
The NSW Board of Jewish Education (BJE) organises the Emet Traditions program before school during school terms. The program has two components: Hebrew language on Thursdays and Jewish Studies (Emet Extension) on Fridays.
The Hebrew program teaches the four language skills: Listening (understanding), speaking, reading and writing. The classes cater for different age and ability levels.
The supplementary Jewish education component, known as Emet Extension, corresponds to the NSW Education Standards Authority K-10 Syllabus – Moving Between Cultures.
During these lessons student will expand their Jewish knowledge and will learn to recite some of the blessings in Hebrew.
The Emet Traditions lessons incorporate art and crafts, drama, story time, games, songs and dance to enhance students’ learning and enjoyment.
