It’s amazing that the end of term 1 is already upon us. It has been a wonderful first term with a lot of positives to celebrate.

We’ve had the Centennial Park Picnic, Swimming Carnival, a cooler Cross Country Carnival and of course the Welcome Back BBQ amongst all the usual activity.

The Welcome BBQ was hosted by the Stage 1 parents for the new Kindy parents and the rest of the school community. It was a great atmosphere and we’re very thankful for all those parents and kids that helped run the event. Thank you to the teaching staff who held the “Meet the Teacher” on the same evening, a successful combination!

As a new initiative this year, we held the inaugural Wishing Tree as a part of the Welcome BBQ. This helped raise over $19,000 for the school teachers, going directly into the learning resources for our classrooms, common rooms and for the students. This was supported well by everyone in the community, and we can’t thank everyone enough for their contributions.

Thank you Kelly Ehrlich for driving the Wishing Tree initiative and whose tireless efforts have led to yet another successful event and fundraising win for the school community.

Lastly, I’d like to thank all the P&C Committee members and sub-committees for all their work during term 1. From organising people and events, auditing the accounts, helping with the meetings and AGM, their many hours of contributions are widespread and important in continuing to build this wonderful CPS community.

Have a great holiday!

Canteen News

Wow, Term 1 is drawing to a close already!

It’s been fantastic to welcome volunteers back to the canteen, and they’ve been an immense help this term, especially with Amy being sidelined due to a fractured heel. We’re deeply grateful for your continued support and energy in the kitchen. It truly makes a difference, and the children are always thrilled to see their parents and carers actively involved.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been diligently working to ensure our compliance with the new NSW Food Authority safety requirements. I’m happy to report that the necessary online courses have been completed, passed, and documented.

During a routine inspection by Waverley Council in week two, we achieved a perfect score of 135 out of 135—a 100% thumbs up for our canteen. This would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of our canteen staff and Command51, who have been instrumental in keeping everything sparkling and compliant.

Our delicious menu has been submitted for the NSW Healthy Menu Check, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Stay tuned for updates.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Rebecca Beavis for her two and a half years of dedicated leadership at the canteen helm. The time and patience you’ve invested will always be cherished and remembered. We also extend a warm welcome to Sophie and Stacey as they take over the reins. We’re excited about the fresh ideas and energy they bring to the table.

A special mention to Amy, Pete, and Madi from The Meat Store, who will continue providing sausages for our end of term BBQ. We encourage you to show your support by purchasing your meat from the Bondi Junction store.

Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful contributions this term. Wishing you all a joyful and restful holiday season!

Friends of the Band (FOTB)

The much-admired CPS band program has had a great start to 2024 under the directorship of the incredible Murray Jackson and support from many parents and helpers. We have had an impressive number of new musicians joining the training band this year, while the intermediate, senior and stage bands are looking forward to the annual band camp at Stanwell Tops in late May. Band performances ramp up in the second half of the year, starting with the mid-year concert on June 20, the Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival in Term 3 and the Jazz Picnic on 29 November.

Social & Fundraising (SoFun)

This year, we introduced our inaugural Wishing Tree at the Welcome Back Picnic. Teachers shared their wish lists for enhancing their classrooms or learning spaces, and families generously fulfilled over $19,000 worth of these wishes, with most items already delivered to the school. A heartfelt thank you to the Stage 1 volunteers for their pivotal role in this achievement, and to everyone for their generous contributions.

Next term, we’re excited to offer our Mothers & Others Self-Care Sessions on Friday, May 10. It’s an opportunity for parents and carers to take a well-deserved break and engage in activities like pilates, yoga, tai chi, meditation, stretching, or dance classes alongside their students. Booking can be made through Flexischools. Also, remember to place your orders for bliss balls, bircher muesli, or juice.

Term 3 promises to be bustling for the P&C, featuring our 90s Flashback Trivia & Disco Night on Saturday, July 27 , a Fathers & Others celebration, and a Moonlight Cinema event organised by Stage 2.

We are always eager to welcome new volunteers and fresh ideas for our social and fundraising (SoFun) committee. If you’re interested in contributing more actively, please reach out to Kelly at sofun@clovellypublicpand.com.

Importantly, for any donations to the Building Fund you will receive a tax receipt which you can use to claim tax deductions. All donations to the Building Fund over $2 are fully tax deductible.

Currently, we are fundraising for a dynamic new play area to be built on the lower field. If you’d like to donate follow the link below, or if you have any questions please email the P&C.
