P&C Pulse Term 4 2023

Happy end of school year to all the families, students and community members connected to Clovelly Public School.

It truly has been a huge year for the school! Along with all of the usual fantastic School and P&C events, we’ve had the commencement and completion of the New School Hall along with the first event of its size in over 10 years – Clofest.

There are so many people that volunteer their time to make each of these projects and events happen. I want to express the gratitude that we all feel. It’s these events that make the community what it is, and make Clovelly Public such a wonderful place to be, to learn, to teach and to enjoy.

Congratulations to all of those students and families saying farewell to the school for the final time. We wish you all the best for life after CPS!

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated teaching and administrative staff, who invest tremendous effort in fostering positive learning environments for students at all levels within the school.

I would like to make special mention of John Richardson, the outgoing P&C President who has served in the role for a number of years. He’s been a wonderful ambassador for the school and the P&C. Without his calm leadership, especially through COVID when there were no in-person events, the School community and P&C in particular would not be in such a healthy state. We can’t thank him enough and we’ll all miss him. John’s work with the School Hall project, and all of the initiatives before, have left a legacy for the school and students to enjoy for many years to come.

I am in the fortunate position to take over from John as the President. We have a number of exciting projects brewing, the major project being the new play area build which will be the fundraising focus in 2024.

We currently have a number of casual vacancies for positions at the P&C, including:

• Canteen Volunteer Coordinator
• Extra curricular co-coordinator

What a delightful event it was! As I stepped into the festive atmosphere, our tree enthusiasts were already selecting the perfect companion that would stand tall and proud in their homes for the next joyful month.

The air was filled with the sweet jingling of holiday music, the laughter of friends, and the playful presence of little elves creating a truly joyous morning!

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful little elves, who graciously accepted payment in the form of Lindt balls generously gifted by a parent. Your festive spirit and dedication truly added an extra sprinkle of magic to this enchanting event.

We raised circa $1,500 from this event! (Exact amount TBC).

We’re thrilled to share the exciting highlights from our recent event on October 14, where the community came together at the voting polls, and Clovelly PS hosted yet another fantastic BBQ that was met with overwhelming enthusiasm!

At this event, we joined forces to support a cause close to our hearts—the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. We are delighted to announce that, thanks to your generous contributions, we successfully raised a remarkable profit of $1,916.38!

A special shout-out to our incredible partners who made this event even more memorable. A big thank you to The Meat Store for consistently providing us with delicious and high-quality sausages. We are also grateful to Empress Hot Bread and our dedicated volunteers who played a crucial role in the success of the fundraiser.

A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for your invaluable contributions, making our inaugural Clofest an extraordinary day for the entire Clovelly Public School community and our neighbours. It was a fantastic opportunity to spotlight the abundant talent within our school and foster an even stronger sense of community.

In the final term of the school year, we organised a productive working bee in preparation for Clofest. Grateful to the dedicated parents who generously volunteered their time, we collectively worked towards ensuring the school grounds looked their best for the upcoming event.

Additionally, we’re excited to share that there are surplus funds remaining from the Clovelly Farm project. Tim Bates, overseeing this initiative, has outlined plans to utilise these funds wisely. The upcoming additions to Clovelly Farm include native and stingless beehives bustling with bees, fruit trees, and bush tucker shrubs sourced from Indigigrow. A unique touch will be added to the farm with the acquisition of a planter box crafted in the shape of a star (or a similar creative design).
