Congratulations to our graduates!
What a thrill to be heading towards the holiday season, with the students finishing out the year in person, in school. It has been wonderful seeing the benefits of being back at school for my daughters and again, I want to thank all the teachers and all those at the school for their efforts to keep the best balance for a safe, fun and engaging environment.
Returning to school has provided a number of adjustments, and I also want to thank the effort of the canteen team in the staged timing deliveries and preparations for the students.
Also big thanks to the SoFun group for the Trivia night, Christmas Tree and Pudding fundraisers. Never easy navigating in this mature pandemic environment we are living through.
The big focus for the P&C has been assisting (Rel) Principal Kate Butson and the school with the exciting Hall upgrade project. As Kate has noted there has been a significant level of support provided by the school that has been matched by the Department of Education, as well as a major contribution by the P&C that has also been matched.
I want to remind the community that the canteen and the annual levies all worked to help contribute the $125k to the Hall project. But now we hope that many members of the community will get behind this once in a 50 year opportunity to deliver a terrific improved facility for the school, students and the community it serves.
The opportunity to participate and help the school maximise this facility will be a lasting legacy. I hope those that can will join me, and the former President BJ Glover, in supporting the project. Visit our fundraiser page to learn more about the project and ways in which you can donate. The P&C will continue to work in all the ways we can to support the school and be a conduit for parents and the community to share feedback with the school.
Please enjoy the holiday break, find some time to relax with loved ones, and we look forward to reconnecting in 2022.
A reminder that the Annual General Meeting is held in February of each year, at which time all executive and committee positions are open for election. We are in particular need of a Treasurer, Chair of the Social & Fundraising (SoFun) Committee, Graphic Designer to design this very newsletter you are reading, and Class Parent Coordinator. Learn more about the process in applying – or apply now for a role!
If you’re interested in joining the P&C and volunteering on the committee, please don’t hesitate to contact the Secretary via email and attend the next P&C meeting. Email clovellypublicschool@pandcaffiliate.org.au
And finally congrats to all the Year 6 graduates. Well done, you make the school proud.
Sincerely,
John Richardson, Clovelly P&C President
Canteen News
End of Term Treats
CLOVELLY BAKERY PIES
Due to the current restrictions we won’t be holding an End of Term Sausage Sizzle. We will however have our delicious pies from Clovelly Bakery available to order on the last day which is Thursday, December 16.
CHRISTMAS CUPCAKES
Merry Christmas Cupcakes are also available to order for the end of term recess times. Each cupcake is $2.50 and a glutenfree option is available, so all the kids can enjoy Amy’s famous cupcakes. CUT OFF for ordering the cupcakes is Tuesday, December 14, at 8.30am.
Team Canteen
The team really need to be acknowledged for the hard work and dedication to our children at Clovelly Public School. Having two lunches and two recess times sounds easy, but logistically it can be absolutely stir crazy in the Canteen. But the dedicated team has continued to have smiles on their faces. Since returning on October 25 we have fulfilled 4,353 orders plus 55 Birthday Baskets, 450 Halloween Cupcakes and more to come before the end of the year! A huge thank you to Kathryn Prassas, Amy Ryan, Catherine Taylor Bass and Libby O’Neill.
Kindy Orientation
The Canteen participated in the Kindy Orientation Days, with bliss balls and the ‘Contribute and Connect’ flyers given to 2022 new Kindy parents. We love the opportunity to spread the word about our Healthy Choice Canteen and help new parents navigate how to order on Flexischools.

Friends of the Band
Trophies
Congratulations to our Year 6 band students who were presented with trophies at the school assembly last week to mark their years of service in the band program. Their commitment and contribution has been outstanding, particularly in the most challenging of times. We also hope that all our band students enjoyed their well-earned end of year treat – cupcakes from the canteen!
2022 here we come!
Many school band programs did not survive Covid. We are proud our program survived and are grateful for the terrific support from our band community. We are now busy planning a new
and exciting 2022 program, including:
- Loads of performance opportunities.
- Fun musical workshops, excursions and experiences (for parents and students).
- Senior Band Camp is already locked in for June

We need you
Some committee members will move on from the school next year and we need some new recruits. It’s a great way to get involved with the school and if there are enough on the committee, it’s not a huge time investment.
Please email clovellyband@gmail.com to get involved in 2022.
Clovelly Social & Fundraising (SoFun) Committee
Despite the challenges we’ve had this year, we still managed to fit in a couple of fun community events to wrap up this very strange year.
Online Trivia Night
What a laugh! James Breko did an amazingly hilarious job keeping us all entertained with his quick wit, wardrobe changes and challenges for bonus points. From dancing the macarena, Gangnam Style, vacuuming to Freddie Mercury and the fluoro team sporting their bobsled impersonation, we were highly entertained.
An incredibly generous list of sponsors to thank for their gifts during the silent auction: Daniel Gillespie – Belle Property, Sydney Zoo, Event Cinemas, Bronte Road Bistro, Hello Bronte, Code Camp, Fluidform Pilates, Chinaclay, Ester Spirits, BeeswaxWraps, Gordons Cafe and Mister Wolf watches. Thank you for supporting your community and local school!
Congratulations to the teams that tied – Bad Fluoro and Busby Pink! It was a close game to say the least (though Team Yellow feels robbed, just saying).
Christmas trees and puddings
We tried something new this year. We sold 63 Christmas trees and about 36 puddings. It was so nice to have the community (socially distanced) milling around together – I’ve really missed it. The Christmas music had us bopping, and the volunteers were incredible (as always), dropping puddings to nearby homes to those who were waylaid. It’s what community action is all about. Thank you to everyone who took part in the events, it was a lovely way to close off the year.
Trivia raised $6,770 and the trees raised circa $1,600 – all profits to go towards our wonderful school.
I will be stepping down from Chairing the Social & Fundraising committee in the new year but look forward to helping out where needed. So look forward to hearing fresh ideas throughout next year as we (hopefully) open up more in the near future. Thanks for having me.
Andrea Aschner,
Chair of the Social & Fundraising (SoFun) Committee
